Poverty Poems - Poverty Images in Verse
Poverty poems, unlike poverty essays, are pretty hard to find on the internet sometimes, but they can certainly paint a vivid picture of some of the difficulties that the poor go through in the Philippines.
Here are some poverty poems that shed a new light on, not just financial problems, but other poverty images such as a lack of compassion for others.
I really like this one:
Poverty is without a dime
It’s robbery without being a crime
Poverty cannot heal through a lottery
It cannot feed by self on bread and butter
What an utter disgrace
It can be dealt with God’s grace
Poverty is a people’s problem
No! It’s all’s problem
Help poverty
Change a life
Give to the needy
Show kind deeds
Show some love
To all—the people

And here is yet another poem about poverty:
It’s the 21st century,
World has advanced in many ways, yet poverty still cries.
Looking at the little boy with tears in eyes,
Desperately searching for love, companion and good clothes
We all know what it clearly indicates and shows,
Poverty.
It haunts me, and part of me wants to make a change and,
the other me wants to forget
but I can surely bet
It’s something one with a good heart wouldn’t do!
If it takes some sacrifice, I’m ready
But is the rest of the world?
I see poverty in a rich man trying to find love,
I see poverty in a well-educated man who lacks modesty.
I see poverty in a literate man who lacks respect for poor.
I see poverty in a selfish man who wants more
The world is still imperfect despite all the advancements,
Because there is,
Poverty.
